These two hat hakus were made a little different by Grandma Sita, each with its own feeling and story.
One has soft orange touches on a light base, bright and full of warmth, like a sunrise. The other has deeper brown tones with gentle black details, grounded and rich with depth.
She weaves each one by hand in Kailua, Hawaiʻi, surrounded by her family. The process takes time and focus. She uses tapa-style patterns and natural materials, just like she was taught back in Haʻapai. Nothing is rushed, and nothing is wasted.
These are not everyday hat hakus. They are made with memory, patience, and a deep connection to where we come from.
